BRUSSELS, May 2 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - Music stars from across the world appear tonight in a Brussels gala opening a series of concerts to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The gala will feature, among others, the Alexandrov army song & dance ensemble from Russia and Prague's Zofin Palace Orchestra, conducted by Frantisek Preisler. This latter will be accompanying performances by the Czech vocalists Karel Gott, Stefan Margita, Lucie Bila, and Marina Vyskvorkina.
The group Soldiers of Swing, part of the U.S. Army Europe Band, the Italian soloist Leo Nucci, and the world-famous Australian trumpeter James Morrison are also expected to take part.
After the Brussels gala, the performers move on to perform in Prague, Ostrawa, Karlovy Vary, and Warsaw. The series will culminate with shows in Moscow's Kremlin Palace on May 26 and in St. Petersburg's Oktyabrskaya Hotel concert hall on May 28.
