MOSCOW, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Great Russian Race covering about 8,000 kilometers from Vladivostok (Far East) to St. Petersburg will start on Saturday, May 28. This joint Russian-British relay is the longest race in the history of track-and-field events.
A number of officials, including British ambassador to Russia Sir Roderic Lyne, will participate in the super-race.
According to President of the All-Russian Track-and-field Federation Valentin Balakhnichev, this race is highly important for national sports and people's unity.
St. Petersburg will see the finish of the race on September 8, 2005.
