MOSCOW, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry drafted a government resolution on amending the scheme of Russian preferences concerning the least developed and developing countries.

The amendments are based on the UN classification comprising 50 less developed countries.

"Proceeding from the UN classification, the Republics of Angola and Senegal will be included in the list of lest developed countries, while Botswana will be removed from this list and put on the list of developing countries," the ministry said.

Such less developed countries as the Democratic Republic of East Timor and Eritrea will be also included in the scheme of Russian preferences, the ministry added.

Cyprus, Malta and Slovenia will be removed from the scheme of preferences "as full-fledged members of the European Union which fall under trade and political regulations fixed by Russian-US bilateral documents," the ministry said.

As a result of these amendments, 153 countries, including 51 least developed ones, will be put on the scheme of Russian preferences.
