MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Olympic Committee believes that cooperation with China should be given priority, first vice-president Vladimir Vasin told journalists on Wednesday.

The Chinese are using updated Soviet training methods and borrowing the best from sportsmen from other countries, the ROC president Leonid Tyagachev said. The entire Chinese system is streamlined and relies on science, he added.

"Some people may say we don't want the Chinese experience," Tyagachev said. "But the 2008 Olympic Games are going to be uphill and we have to adopt it."

Vladimir Vasin admitted that, when the ROC delegation visited China, he noticed great changes for the better also as regards the infrastructure.

"Everything is properly arranged there and the discipline is cast-iron. We have what to learn from the Chinese," Vasin said.

In his opinion, when everything is like that success is inevitable and the Chinese ambitions to win the home Olympics 2008 are well grounded.

Nor did Leonid Tyagachev see problems in the training of Chinese sportsmen.

Last week the Russian and Chinese Olympic committees concluded a cooperation agreement. It provides for the exchange of sport delegations, coaches, physicians, specialists and the organization of joint training sessions and competitions in the two countries. The agreement was signed during the visit of the ROC delegation to China, where the summer Olympic Games 2008 will be held.
