MOSCOW, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - July 2005 will see the start of topographic work to create a uniform map necessary for the demarcation of the Russian-Chinese border, the Foreign Ministry announced Monday.

Russian and Chinese experts involved in demarking the border visited the Tarabarov and Bolshoi Ussuriysky islands, at the confluence of the Amur and the Ussuri rivers not far from Khabarovsk (the Far East), to see the particularities of the landscape that the border will cross. For the same purpose the experts also surveyed Bolshoi Island, in the Chita region in the upper reaches of the Argun River.

"Next time the experts will meet in Beijing in late August - early September 2005," the foreign ministry said.

In his conversation with Vitaly Vorobyov, Russian Ambassador-at-Large and head of the Russian delegation, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Viktor Ishayev spoke in favor of starting the demarcation work as soon as possible and pledged his full support.
