KRASNOYARSK, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - The pro-presidential United Russia party may propose three ways of fast and qualitative economic growth of the country, party leader Boris Gryzlov said at the sixth congress in Krasnoyarsk.
According to Gryzlov, who is also the speaker of the State Duma (parliament's lower house), the first way is property protection and fast development of small and medium-sized business. The second way is the growth of human resources and the third way is the increase of state regulation and strategic development of the Russian economy.
Gryzlov also said United Russia was ready to become the party of power.
"Today United Russia is a key political force in the country and the implementation of key state decisions is possible only with the party's support," he said.
Speaking about the party's achievements, Gryzlov said United Russia had fulfilled its election obligations and became "a reliable support for the president's policy."
"One of the most important achievements [of United Russia] is the work on the 2006 federal budget," he said. "We managed to make it a budget of development. The budget stops being a simple accounting plan and starts focusing on practical results."
Gryzlov said United Russia had achieved socially beneficial decisions, including gradual increase of minimum wages and pensions, as well as health care and education spending, abolition of the inheritance tax, and formation of the Investment Fund.
