MOSCOW, January 13 (RIA Novosti) - About 100 fishermen are stranded on drifting ice in the Rybinsk Sea, a vast water reservoir on the Volga River and two of its tributaries in Central Russia, a local emergencies service said Saturday.
"The incident was reported at 4.45 p.m. Moscow time [1.45 p.m. GMT]," the service said. "Sixty to 100 fishermen are on a drifting ice floe."
The service said 15 rescuers were on their way to the fishing aficionados in distress from Cherepovets, a large port on the Rybinsk Sea, one of the largest man-made bodies of water in the world located in the northernmost point of the Volga.
Another 10 rescuers are moving from Vologda, the center of the region also with access to the sea.
