Residents of an apartment block in the Belgian city of Mechelen have asked a court to evict an unusually noisy and smelly neighbor, the Sud Presse newspaper group reported on its website on Tuesday.

BRUSSELS, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Residents of an apartment block in the Belgian city of Mechelen have asked a court to evict an unusually noisy and smelly neighbor, the Sud Presse newspaper group reported on its website on Tuesday.

Alexandra Vercammen was given a piglet by her boyfriend three years ago. He has gone, but the pot-bellied pig remains, and although not fully mature, Flurk weighs 80 kilograms (180 pounds).

"He is so sweet. When I say something he grunts to let me know that he understands. Hi is such a treasure," Vercammen was quoted as saying.

Flurk spends his days in the living room, on a blanket in front of the sofa. His owner says he is very neat and every two days she rubs the pig with a special lotion to keep the smell down.

Vercammen is sure that her pet is happy, and no farm could be as good for Flurk as her small apartment.

The neighbors, however, do not share Vercammen's love for Flurk, and demand the pig be taken away. They say the pig smells, and rubs himself against the wall when he has an itch, waking up other residents.

"The pig must leave the building because it is a disturbance and stinks," a representative of the housing society said.

Flurk's future is now in the hands of a magistrate.
