Moscow airports operate according actual weather conditions because of the smog from wildfires, a spokesman for the Russian air transport agency Rosaviatsiya said on Saturday.
The wildfires and peat bog fires raging across the central part of European Russia has disrupted the work in Moscow airports and urged thousands of people spend hours in airport lounges.
As of 18:00 Moscow time [14:00 GMT], 22 planes landed at the reserve airfields, 38 departing and 30 arriving flights are delayed at Vnukovo airport, Sergei Izvolsky said, adding the visibility at Vnukovo airport is 350 meters.
Izvolsky said Domodedovo airport sent 33 jets to the reserve airfields, 36 departing and 44 arriving flights are delayed.
Sheremetyevo airport, in Moscow's north, delayed 9 departing flights and 5 arriving flights, the airport's press service said.
Visibility on the runways at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports is 600 meters.
