Russia's flagship airline Aeroflot posted a 24 percent year-on-year increase in its January-June net profit to $17.5 million to IFRS, Aeroflot said on Tuesday.

Russia's flagship airline Aeroflot posted a 24 percent year-on-year increase in its January-June net profit to $17.5 million to IFRS, Aeroflot said on Tuesday.

The figure is far below the $75.2 million consensus forecast of analysts polled by RIA Novosti.

Aeroflot's revenues in the first six months of 2010 grew 27 percent to $1.854 billion, the company said.

The company's operating costs grew 25 percent to $1.689 billion, EBITDA grew 55 percent year-on-year. Aeroflot's EBITDA margin grew to 15 percent compared to 12 percent in the first half of 2009.

"Aeroflot's positive financial indicators are due to the management measures to increase efficiency and stimulate air transport demand," Aeroflot quoted company's chief financial officer Shamil Kurmashov as saying.
