Putin to Hold Innovation Commission Meeting

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will on Monday hold a meeting of the government commission on high technology and innovations in the town of Tikhvin in the northwest Russian Leningrad Region, the government press service reported.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will on Monday hold a meeting of the government commission on high technology and innovations in the town of Tikhvin in the northwest Russian Leningrad Region, the government press service reported.

The meeting aims to consider the implementation of innovation development programs of the biggest companies with state participation, as well as development of public-private partnership in the high-tech sphere.

Putin will also attend the ceremony to launch serial production at the Tikhvin Carriage Works.

The meeting will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vladislav Surkov, Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina and other officials.

By 2013, Russia’s spending on R&D is to double on 2010 to exceed 446 billion rubles ($14.8bn). The increase will be ensured sixty percent by the federal budget, and forty percent by other sources.
