MOSCOW, June 2 (RIA Novosti) – Iran's intelligence ministry said on Sunday its agents have dismantled a “terror network” backed by Israel's Mossad that planned to disrupt the upcoming presidential polls, the Fars news agency said.

The ministry said a total of 12 people have been arrested after the agents “found traces and gathered accurate information about the cell's activities and mission.”

The group had links to Israel's spy agency through a "reactionary" Arab country in the region, the report said.

The Iranian presidential election is scheduled to be held on June 14. Incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will not run for a third term due to term limits under the Iranian constitution.
