SOCHI, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Croatia is interested in Russian companies' participation in its privatization, Croatian ambassador Bozo Kovacevic said in his interview with RIA Novosti in Sochi, which hosts the Kuban-2004 international economic forum.

"Moreover, some Russian investors have already purchased property in Croatia and, as far as I know, are interested in buying the objects meant for privatization," the ambassador said.

In his words, Russian investors are mainly private persons buying hotels on the Adriatic coast in Croatia.

However, Russia and Croatia should boost economic cooperation, the diplomat stressed.

"Our political relations are very good but we should improve economic interaction," he noted.

The ambassador pointed out the special potential of bilateral cooperation in tourism, energy and shipbuilding spheres. "The cooperation is very successful. Russian companies order the building of ships in Croatia and this has become a good tradition," Mr. Kovacevic said.

The ambassador expressed hope that Russian-Croatian cooperation will keep developing after the visit to Croatia by 100 Russian businessmen in November 2004. According to him, they will be interested in possible investments in Croatia. "I hope our cooperation will be more intensive, after that," he added.
