MOSCOW, August 11 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Reznichenko) - Rosoboronexport, Russia's main arms exporter, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a large Indian aircraft manufacturer, are planning to sign a license contract for new jet engines, a Russian Energy Ministry official said Thursday.
Yury Koptev, the head of the defense industry department at the Energy Ministry, said the contract would be signed at the MAKS-2005 air show outside Moscow and would be on manufacturing the engines for a military aircraft that is being developed by India.
He also said Russia would focus on promoting the Tu-204-300 airliner during the show.
"The plane has passed its certification tests," Koptev said. "Serial production has started, and three aircraft have been purchased and flown by a Russian airline."
