MOSCOW, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - Former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky's foreign lawyers said the Moscow City Court was unlikely to revoke the nine-year sentence against their client.

John Papalardo told a news conference Tuesday that the court was going to confirm the legitimacy of the verdict against Khodorkovsky and his business partners, Platon Lebedev and Andrei Krainov.

Papalardo reaffirmed his intention to file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights, calling the Strasbourg-based court his clients' last resort after the Moscow City Court.

He said the defense team intended to protest the infringements on Khodorkovsky's right to a fair trial.

On May 31, the Meshchansky Court sentenced Khodorkovsky and Lebedev, the former head of Menatep group, the oil major's core shareholder, to nine years in prison. They were found guilty of fraud, failure to comply with a court ruling and personal income and corporate tax evasion.

On June 9, the two men's lawyers filed an appeal against all charges with the Moscow City Court.
