MOSCOW, August 14 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian telecoms operator Kyivstar said Monday its net profit rose 140% in the first six months of 2006 year-on-year to $243.9 million.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in the reporting period rose 90% to $461.8 mln.
The company's client base grew 70% in the first six months of the year to 16,005 subscribers.
Kyivstar is Ukraine's largest mobile operator and covers 97% of the country.
Its principal shareholders are Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor (56.51%) and Russia's Alfa Group (43.49%).
