The project of upgrading two energy units with a capacity of 300 MW each at the Agios Dimitrios thermal power plant near Athens will help Russia's leading heavy machinery manufacturer receive preferences for similar work in the European Union, which sets increased requirements for market operators and their expertise.
Power Machines, which produces and supplies equipment for hydro, steam, gas and nuclear power plants, said the Agios Dimitrios thermal power plant operated equipment supplied by the company in the early 1980s.
The Power Public Corporation of Greece is the project customer. With the contract's total price of 42 million euros, Power Machines will do work worth more than 22 million euros (about $27.9 million), the company said.
Power Machines is currently carrying out the projects of modernizing electric power stations in Russia and former Soviet republics and intends to bid in a tender to supply generators with a capacity of 20 MW each for diesel electric power stations on the Greek island of Rhodes.
