MOSCOW, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - The number of loss-making enterprises in Russia declined 2.8% year-on-year in the first half of 2006 to 35.6% of the total number of enterprises, the country's top statistic body said Thursday.
The State Statistics Service said Russian organizations made a profit (net financial result) of 1,855.3 billion rubles (about $68.7 billion) in the first half of 2006 compared with 1,377.5 billion rubles (about $51 billion) a year earlier.
In January-June 2006, 58,000 organizations made a profit of 2,062.8 billion rubles (about $76.4 billion), whereas 32,100 companies posted a loss of 207.5 billion rubles (about $7.67 billion), the agency said.
