MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - North-West Telecom [RTS: SPTL] said Tuesday its net profit, calculated to Russian Accounting Standards, increased 34.4% in the first nine months of 2006 year-on-year, to 2.17 billion rubles ($81 mln).
The company said its earnings in the reporting period climbed 0.9% to 14.9 billion rubles ($550 mln) year-on-year.
North-West Telecom (formerly St. Petersburg Telephone Network), whose licensed territory covers all of Russia's Northwest Federal District, with a population of 13.7 million, is 39.5% owned by telecoms giant Svyazinvest.
