Russia's No. 1 mobile operator said sales grew 24.5% in the reporting period to $4.58 billion, operating profit gained 16.9% to $1.48 billion, and pre-tax profit climbed 12.9% to $1.38 billion.
In the third quarter of 2006, MTS posted net profit of $486.3 million, or 40% more than in the same period of last year. Sales increased 29.8% to $1.79 billion, operating profit rose 38.2% to $685.5 million, and operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) expanded 30.5% to $962.8 million, the company said.
The company's franchise totaled 67.59 million subscribers in the third quarter of the year, including 49.99 million in Russia, 16.36 million in Ukraine, 1.09 million in Uzbekistan, and 140,000 in Turkmenistan, MTS said.
