MOSCOW, January 16 (RIA Novosti) - Euroset [RTS: TDEV] said Tuesday its sales grew by an estimated 79%, year-on-year, in 2006, to $4.62 billion.

Russia's largest cell phone retailer posted sales of $2.58 billion in 2005 and $968 million in 2004.

In 2006, Euroset sold more than 12.12 million mobile handsets, which represents a 33% increase on the previous year, and 1.23% of global cell phone sales, the company said in a news release.

Founded in Moscow in 1997, Euroset later entered regional and international markets. It diversified into the non-mobile business by selling foreign-made electronics, including digital cameras, CD and MP3 players. Euroset reported revenues of about $2.2 billion in 2005.
