"We have information for the first 12 days, and inflation in this period was 0.4%," Minister German Gref said during his visit to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, for an economic forum.
Arkady Dvorkovich, chief expert in the presidential administration, said the forecast for February did not have to be adjusted and fitted in well with the annual expectations.
"So far we remain within the annual target of 8%, and the monthly forecast has not been changed either," Dvorkovich said.
Last year, inflation stood at 9%.
Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said Thursday that finance and economics officials were considering a possible downward readjustment of the inflation targets for 2008-2010 by 0.5%.
The original plan stipulated that inflation be gradually reduced to 7% next year, 6.8% in 2009, and 6.5% in 2010.
