Russia's Aeroflot posts 36% rise in 2006 IFRS net profit -1

MOSCOW, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's flagship air carrier Aeroflot [RTS: AFLT] said Wednesday its net profit calculated to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) increased 36%, year-on-year, in 2006 to $258 million.

The airline, which accounts for 39% of Russia's international passenger traffic and 11% of domestic flights, said revenues grew 18 % to $2.98 billion and EBITDA climbed 47.2% to $474.2 million.

Aeroflot carried 8.8 million passengers in 2006 or 7.9% more than in 2005 and its freight carriage grew 0.1% in the reporting period to 151,000 metric tons, the company said.
