MOSCOW, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - Inter RAO UES, Russia's electricity import and export operator, reported Friday a 76% rise to 1.7 billion rubles (over $65 million) in its net profit, calculated to Russian Accounting Standards, in 2006.
The company represents the interests of the two largest participants of the Russian power sector - electricity monopoly Unified Energy System and Rosenergoatom, a state-controlled concern overseeing nuclear power plants. The companies possess 60% and 40% of the shares, respectively.
Inter RAO UES revenues increased 32% to 28.7 billion rubles ($1.1 billion), while pre-tax profit grew 59% to 2.8 billion rubles ($108 million).
The company exported 20.5 billion kilowatt hours and imported 5.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in the reporting period.
