MOSCOW, July 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Atomstroyexport said Thursday it had completed the second power unit of China's Tianwan NPP.

The reactor is ready to run at 100% capacity and will be fully commissioned after minor completion procedures, said Atomstroyexport, which builds nuclear power plants worldwide.

The unit was put on a 700-hour test run on June 29. The nuclear equipment export monopoly said the reactor would be brought on line in late September.

Atomstroyexport is building the Tianwan NPP in eastern China's port city of Lianyungang. The plant, being built under a 1992 agreement, features improved VVER-1000 reactors and K-100-6/3000 turbo generators.

The company commissioned the first reactor of the Tianwan NPP in early June.

It previously said that Russia and China would draft a schedule by the end of July to build the third and fourth units.

The Federal Nuclear Power Agency (Rosatom) said last month that Russia and China were discussing potential projects to build fast neutron reactors, a uranium enrichment plant, and projects to introduce new technologies into the process of nuclear fuel management.
