MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's electricity monopoly posted a net profit of 16.8 billion rubles ($658 million) in the first half of 2007, up 36% against 12 billion rubles ($470 million) in the same period last year, the company said Wednesday.
Unified Energy System (UES) said its net profit in the first quarter of the year was 2.8 billion rubles ($109.6 million), and 14 billion rubles ($548 million) in the second quarter.
The electricity monopoly said the increase in its net profit followed a sale of its subsidiaries' shares.
