MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's natural gas giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] denied Monday media reports that Alexander Ananenkov, deputy chairman of the board, has resigned.
"Reports in today's media to the effect that Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Ananenkov has resigned are untrue. Alexander Ananenkov has today returned from a vacation and resumed his official duties," the company said in a press release.
It said the company regards such reports as "unprofessional."
The Russian business daily Kommersant had reported earlier that a major reshuffle should be expected at Gazprom within the next three weeks, while Ananenkov could resign on October 1.
It said another five top executives, whose terms are due to expire shortly, may not have their contracts extended.
