MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] said on Monday that its net profit calculated to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) went up 14% to 210 billion rubles ($8.4 billion) in the first quarter of 2007.
The company's sales increased 4.4% to 611.5 billion rubles ($24.48 billion) in the same period.
Net sales of natural gas increased 4%, year-on-year, in the first three months of the year to 428.43 billion rubles (about $17 billion). This increase was primarily due to higher prices for gas sold to former Soviet republics and Russian consumers.
