MOSCOW, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - Aeroflot [RTS: AFLT] posted net profit of 1.34 billion rubles ($56 million) in January-March calculated to Russian Accounting Standards, Russia's leading air carrier said on Thursday.
In the same period of last year, Aeroflot incurred a net loss of 1.15 billion rubles ($48.2 million).
The company's net profit in the last three months of 2007 was 260 million rubles ($10.9 million).
Aeroflot flies to 96 destinations in 49 countries worldwide and operates 302 flights daily. The company holds a 45% market share of regular international flights to and from Russia. It is rapidly increasing its share in domestic flights, which is currently at 12.5%, or 17% including subsidiaries.
The Russian government holds 51% in Aeroflot.
