"The total amount of investment that will be attracted in line with the agreements and programs will reach more than 680 billion rubles," Igor Yesipovsky said.
Yesipovsky said the East Siberian region would receive over 75 billion rubles ($2.9 billion) in investment by the end of 2008. Another 40 billion rubles ($1.6 billion) will be poured into the construction of a new airport, he added.
The administration of the Irkutsk Region has also concluded an agreement with the National Investment Group providing for the investment of over 120 million euros ($170 million).
The fifth Baikal Economic Forum, one of the biggest business forums in Russia, was held in Irkutsk on Tuesday and Wednesday, with delegations from over 20 countries in attendance.
