The agreement on a hi-tech cement facility in the Akbulak District was signed on Monday by Buzzi Unicem President Alessandro Buzzi and the governor of the Orenburg Region, Alexei Chernyshev. The facility is expected to produce 2 million metric tons of Portland cement per year, the press office said.
The project will help meet demand for cement in the Orenburg Region and in adjacent regions of Russia and Kazakhstan, the press office said.
"In particular, the project will generate additional tax revenue, create 700-800 new jobs on the territory of the Akbulak District, and facilitate the development of related sectors in the district - industry, housing and utilities and services. Also, the project is expected to raise the incomes of the local community and increase the region's attractiveness for Russian and foreign investors," the statement said.
The Akbulak chalk-stone deposit's proven reserves amount to 106.4 million metric tons. The quality of the deposit's raw materials allows for the production of premium Portland cement brands complying with European standards.
