Gazprom not yet in agreement with China on gas prices

RUSSKY ISLAND, (Russian Far East), October 12 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom has not yet agreed with energy-hungry China on the price of natural gas, a deputy CEO of the Russian energy giant said on Monday.

"Negotiations are ongoing with China. So far, they have not been concluded. Upon completion of the talks, deliveries will be possible depending on the availability of a large resources base in the eastern direction," Alexander Ananenkov said.

The Gazprom official said that the scheme of possible deliveries was unchanged and the parties only needed to agree on the price.

"In the future, gas deliveries to China could be based on gas deposits in Yakutia, including the Chayanda gas field with estimated reserves of about 1.3 trillion cubic meters. This resources base could be used for supplies to Asia and the Pacific at the second stage of the eastern gas program implementation," he said, adding that the first stage involved gas deliveries from Sakhalin.

Ananenkov did not specify which price Gazprom considered as acceptable for the start of deliveries. He said, however, that gas supplies could be commenced within three years from the moment the parties agree on the price.
