Russia's ROLF SCS logistics company and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL), a Scandinavian transportation services provider, are to set up a joint venture to deliver cars and spare car parts to Russia, ROLF SCS said on Thursday.
"The joint venture will operate the auto and RoRo terminals in Kotka in Finland, Petrolesport port in St Petersburg and Vostochny in the Russian Far East, which constitute the principal entry ports by sea into Russia," the company said.
ROLF SCS, Russia's biggest car importer, will provide its Petrolesport and Vostochny Port terminals for the joint venture, while WWL will use its terminal in Kotka.
The deal, expected to be closed in the fourth quarter of 2010, is now under consideration by the companies' boards.
"Despite the recent downturn, we believe in this market for the long term," Head of WWL Region Europe Anders Boman said.
