President Vladimir Putin called on the core shareholders in Russian mining and metals giant Norilsk Nickel on Monday to resolve all existing corporate disputes in the interests of the enterprise’s production and workforce.

Aluminum giant RusAl, owned by billionaire Oleg Deripaska with a 25 percent in Norilsk Nickel and Interros holding company belonging to tycoon Vladimir Potanin with a 28 percent share package have been embroiled in a shareholder row over control of the company since June 2010, when RusAl had lost one seat on Norilsk's board while Interros increased its control over the firm.

RusAl accused Interros of ruining the parity and the board of directors of a vote fraud.

“Up to now, they [the owners] have failed to settle all the disputes between themselves. I hope that in the interests of production and people working at the enterprise all the disputes between them will be over,” Putin said at a meeting devoted to Miners’ Day, which is celebrated in Russia on the last Sunday of August.
