A total of 58 people were wounded and 12 killed, in a shooting on Friday at a movie theater in the U.S. town of Aurora, outside Denver, Huffington Post reported citing Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates.

Earlier reports said that at least 10 people were killed and 50 wounded in the shooting.

Thirty people remain in hospitals after the attack with 11 of them in critical condition, Oates said.

The gunman, identified as James Eagan Holmes, 24, entered the theater during the premier of “The Dark Knight Rises,” set off two devices that let out an “irritant or smoke” and then opened fire on people.

Oates said that the assailant was dressed in all black, wore heavy body armor and is believed to have used three guns in the attack, which are an assault rifle, a shotgun, and a 40-caliber Glock. Police later discovered another gun in his car.

He said police received the first call about the shooting 39 minutes after the midnight and a total of 25 officers responded in less than two minutes eventually arresting Holmes in the back of the theater, who "surrendered without any significant incident for our officers.”

“We are not looking for any other suspects. We are confident that he acted alone,” Oates was quoted as saying.

The police chief declined to speculate on possible motives of Holmes saying only that the shooter had no previous criminal record except for speeding tickets.

..yet again some twenty miles from the last one. One would think the American government would wake up. However, how can we possibly interfere with the task of making money.

What does one expect from a culture in which their are no checks and balances on the incessant diet of violence in the entertainment industry which is pouring into the minds of impressive youth since childhood on a daily and pervasive diet? There must be as in the days of my youth censor boards as to how much insanity Hollywood is permitted to peddle for the sake of the eternal '...In God We Trust..." American greenback.

This culture of violence in the entertainment industry is not simply an American phenomenon but the excesses did begin there and the Hollywood movie 'carpet baggers' and mogols have been given a carte blanche license to produce all kinds of sick crap. Hence, when you have not talent in great script writers they have discovered what always sells is violence and debauchery.

My God! Simply turn on the T.V. and be prepared for violence at every push of the remote button.

God help the families of those innocent victims, for the dead feel not but the living are scarred for ever...
