MOSCOW, November 24 (RIA Novosti) - A thief hid behind a false ceiling at an electronics store in Russia’s Far East but was detained by police, the Russian Interior Ministry’s regional department reported on Saturday.

Store employees in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky called the police after discovering that four laptops, two tablet PCs and two mobile phones, worth 130,000 rubles ($4,200) totally, were gone on Friday morning. Police officers discovered the 22-year-old thief inside a niche behind the store’s false ceiling.

“The detained said he had hid there the day before. At night, he stole the devices, got into his improvised hideout and started waiting for an opportunity to leave unnoticed, but failed to complete his plan,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

“He had a backpack with food and a vacuum flask with tea,” the ministry said.

An investigation is underway.
