MOSCOW, March 19 (RIA Novosti) - A tiger is to take part in a performance for the first time in the history of Russian ballet, a spokeswoman for St. Petersburg's Imperial Mikhailovsky Theatre said on Wednesday.
Mira, a circus tiger, arrived from Moscow on Wednesday to star in the new version of Aram Khachaturyan's 'Spartacus', which is due to premiere on April 29.
The theatre says that the ballet will be "a distinctive combination of muscles and dance," showing "all the vitality of male corps de ballet."
The performance will cost $3.5 million to put on. Hundreds of unique costumes are currently being sewn.
