Kaiane Aldorino, a 23-year-old administrative clerk from Gibraltar, was crowned Miss World 2009 at the beauty contest in South Africa.

Kaiane Aldorino, a 23-year-old administrative clerk from Gibraltar, was crowned Miss World 2009 at the beauty contest in South Africa.

"I have no words. I am really happy," she said after winning the contest.

Russia's Ksenia Sukhinova, who won the title of Miss World 2008, handed Aldorino the crown.

Hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide tuned in to the Miss World final in South Africa on Saturday night, with beauties from over 100 countries competing.

Russia was represented by Ksenia Shipilova, an 18-year-old student from the small town of Kokhma in the Ivanovo Region.

Shipilova was a runner-up in the Miss Russia pageant earlier this year. The winner, Sofia Rudyeva, was barred from competing in the Miss World pageant after she was found to have posed nude for erotic magazines.
