A rather quick turnaround by Chirkov on this issue. Only 6 months back he was shooting down Project 677 Lada as a dismal failure and its virtual abandonment by Russian Navy. Indeed, the Navy has laid down several new Project Project 636 Varshavyanka boats for black sea fleet instead. It now seems that the problem with the Lada were not insurmountable after all. The very audible dissatisfaction aired before however may have already done their damage however, by seriously damaging the export prospects of the new submarine. Its chances in the big Indian tender now seem slim thanks to the thoughtless verbal diarrhea by Chirkov earlier.

If it truly was verbal diarrhea and you understand it to be so, then I am pretty sure the Indian government knows that also.
