A small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed on Monday near a highway in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, a police source reported.
"A report on Monday said that a small aircraft crashed near the Caucasus federal highway. Police confirmed after arrival at the site that it was an aerial-imagery UAV," the source said, adding that the crash did not result in any damage to ground infrastructure or casualties.
Police established later that the drone belonged to the Inter-regional electric grid company serving Russia's North Caucasus.
"The company was checking the condition of the power lines [when it crashed]," Secretary of the Ingush Security Council Akhmed Kotiyev said.
A technical failure caused the crash, he added.
