A modernized A-50U airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft entered service with the Russian Air Force on Tuesday, Defense Ministry spokesman Col Vladimir Drik said.
The aircraft, which has an advanced onboard computer, satellite communication and radar systems, was delivered to the Air Force in October and started flight tests.
It will participate in all major military exercises this year, the spokesman added.
The aircraft now has the capability to detect various types of flying targets, including helicopters, cruise missiles and supersonic aircraft, he said.
The Beriev A-50, based on the Ilyushin Il-76 transport, first flew in 1978. It entered service in 1984, with about 40 produced by 1992.
The A-50 can track up to 10 fighter aircraft for either air-to-air interception or air-to-ground attack missions.

- arnoldvinette@yahoo.comPerfect timing to test a new hypothesis on UFO propulsion23:17, 17/01/2012A new test for the Russian AWACS plane is to see if it can be fitted with an experimental device to detect for time warping around an object in flight.
This morning I had an insight as to why UFO's can move so quickly through a medium like air above the speed of sound without creating a sonic boom and just as quickly underwater.
Many UFO's to date have been observed travelling at well above the speed of sound without creating a sonic boom. This means that the UFO's are not displacing the medium of air that they are travelling through.
UFO's have also been observed creating feats of aeronautics at high speeds that seem to be impossible. Jumping from to different positions around an aircraft seemingly instantaneously. Making instant 90 degree turns at speeds above the speed of sound.
UFO's have exhibited acceleration rates that defy explanation without breaking the speed of sound.
This morning on Tuesday January 17, 2012, I came up with a hypothesis as to how a UFO moves through space and time.
My hypothesis explains the high speed capable of UFO's without breaking the sound barrier, the manoeuvrability of UFO's at high speeds that defy explanation, the incredible acceleration of UFO's that defy explanation.
My hypothesis suggests that UFOs can create an adjustable time bubble in the space that surrounds their craft. The time within this bubble can be adjusted, accelerating and decelerating time as required. When time within the bubble is accelerated this gives the illusion to an outside observer that the UFO is moving faster through space than it really is.
This ability to manipulate time within the bubble allows the UFO to travel rapidly through normal space-time, relative to an observer moving in a normal earth time outside of the bubble.
The UFO craft itself is never travelling any faster through space, however its ability to manipulate time around itself gives it this illusion. Incredible speed, amazing manoeuvrability, and startling acceleration. In each case the UFO is moving, manoeuvring and accelerating at a significantly reduced speed to that being observed outside of the accelerated time bubble.
What the observer outside of the accelerated time bubble observes are flight characteristics that defy the impossible.
From the perspective of the observers inside the accelerated time bubble, events happening outside are moving in slow motion.
From the perspective of the people outside of the accelerated time bubble, the UFO is moving in fast forward relative to their much slower time based reality.
The AWCS is the perfect aircraft to be fitted with an experimental device to detect time acceleration around an object.
Since the job of the AWCS aircraft is to monitor aircraft activities over Russia it has the best opportunity to see UFO's moving through Russian airspace.
Knowing how UFO's now move through space and time, it may be easier to detect them, monitor them, and then duplicate the technology to be used on future Russian aircraft.
The technology to create an adjustable time bubble around an aircraft exists. Every air force in the world has observed them in action, including Russia.
The challenge now for Russian scientists is to discover a way to detect the acceleration of time around an aircraft making these foreign aircraft more visible for detection.
One aspect of the time bubble is certain, radar waves have no trouble penetrating the time distortion bubble and being reflected back. UFO's can be detected on radar.
So the question now is how are the radar waves affected after passing in and out of the accelerated time bubble? Is their a change? Can it be detected? If so UFO spacecraft operating over Russia can be more easily detected and monitored, if there is an interest to do so.
