ASTANA, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian delegation is happy with the results of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), said President Vladimir Putin Tuesday. The Russian president said a declaration to expand interaction in the regional organization, which unites four Eurasian states and China, had been adopted as well.

Putin said the SCO had gained authority as a serious regional organization. The summit adopted a declaration of international importance. The document consolidates general opinions and assessments of what needs to be respected and protected, the Russian leader added. According to Putin, the declaration shows that the SCO member states share the view that it is unacceptable to impose models and standards development by means of force.

The admission to the SCO of India, Pakistan and Iran as observers proves, the Russian leader continued, that the organization is transparent.

Putin said that the Council of the SCO Heads of States must become the headquarters for the economic and humanitarian cooperation.

"The results of the summit mean we can speak about the organization's future enormous potential and possibilities for our nations," Putin added.
