MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russia should promote bilateral relations with NATO member states, Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said after a meeting with his Belgian Defense Minister Andre Flahaut. "We hold regular meetings with the NATO leadership and other countries on a bilateral basis," Ivanov said. "Everything is interconnected." He also said Russia is developing and building relations with NATO on the fight against terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, peacekeeping activities and the formation of non-strategic anti-missile defense.

"Bilateral meetings with some NATO member states, including Belgium, contribute to this cooperation," Lavrov said.

The sides also discussed counter-terrorism, conflict hot spots, bilateral military and technical cooperation and peacekeeping.

"Despite the great territorial differences between Russia and Belgium and tasks of the armed forces, we find areas of common interest," Ivanov said.
