According to the source, an agreement has been reached between Russian railroad officials and the transit countries of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.
A delegation of Russian railroad officials will arrive in Dushanbe on September 10 to inspect the train that will run between Dushanbe and Moscow.
The source added that although only one train had been assigned to this route, additional trains might be added in future, depending on demand.
Russia halted railroad operations between Moscow and Dushanbe in October 2001 because of a huge inflow of migrants, the condition of the trains, and anti-terrorist operations in Afghanistan.
At present, three trains leave Dushanbe for Astrakhan (southern Russia) weekly. Tajik trains also run between Kulyaba (southern Tajikistan) and Astrakhan, and between Khudzhanda (northern Tajikistan) and Saratov (southern Russia) once a week.
