MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - Boris Yeltsin has broken a bone in his thigh in an accident, a source close to the former Russian president said Wednesday.
He confirmed Western media reports that said Yeltsin had suffered the injury while on vacation in Sardinia, Italy.
The source said Yeltsin was feeling well and would probably return to Moscow on Wednesday night.
Yeltsin fractured his bone indoors and had to ask for medical assistance. Doctors said he must have stumbled or slipped and then fell down.
Yeltsin's bodyguards gave him first aid and called an ambulance, which took him to a hospital in the city of Olbia.
The former president is currently in an orthopedics ward.
