MINSK, September 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Belarus signed a contract on Saturday morning to deliver S-300 air defense systems to Belarus, a Belarusian Defense Ministry source said.
"The delivery of the ZRK S-300SP to Belarus will enable an improvement in the effectiveness not only of the Belarussian Air Force and Air Defense, but of the united air defense system of the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States]," the source said.
The process for delivering the air defense systems from Russia to Belarus will begin today, he said.
While transport arrangements are made in the two countries, technical preparation of the air defense systems is being carried out; the transport and setting up of S-300 systems will be carried out by engineering and technical specialists.
