Putin arrives in New York

NEW YORK, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New York Wednesday to attend the 60th annual session of the UN General Assembly. Putin will appear at a high-level session of the UN Security Council, speak at a jubilee session of the General Assembly and hold bilateral meetings. Putin will attend a ceremony for signing the international Nuclear Terrorism Convention. He was the first world leader to sign the document. He will also attend a plenary session of the UN General Assembly where UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and U.S. President George Bush will take the floor.

On the sidelines of the GA session, Putin will meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Chinese leader Hu Jintao.

On Sept. 16, Putin will leave for Washington for talks with Bush. This is Putin's fourth visit to the United States.
