Putin: Oil prices could have been higher without Russia
17:58 04/10/2005
LONDON, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that oil prices would have been higher if Russia had not supplied energy carriers.
"Russia is constantly increasing oil production and its supplies to world markets, helping the world and European economy develop normally and predictably and maintain [oil] prices for businessmen and domestic consumers at the present level." Putin said at a news conference following the Russia-EU Summit in London. "If it weren't for Russia's contribution to energy resources in general, prices would be higher. "
"I think Russia and the EU want to pursue energy cooperation," Putin added.
