KALININGRAD, October 28 (RIA Novosti, Anatoly Nilov) - Russian ships account for the least number of violations in Norwegian territorial waters, the general secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs said Friday.

"Our inspections found no violations in the Norwegian waters involving Russian fishermen since the beginning of the year," Jorn Krog said after a session of the bilateral fisheries commission.

He added that most Russian fishermen had been law-abiding in 2005.

Krog said the commission had not discussed the detention of Russian vessels in the Barents Sea, adding that joint measures might help avoid such incidents in the future.

Russian ships the Dmitry Pokramovich and the Kapitan Gorbachev were detained off Medvezhy Island in the Barents Sea Monday on charges of unauthorized fish reloading. The ship owners posted bail and both vessels were released Friday.
