TYUMEN, December 5 (RIA Novosti) - The collapse of a swimming pool roof Sunday in the Urals town of Chusovoi has left 10 children and four women dead and three in serious condition, the mayor's press secretary confirmed Monday.

Another 11 people were taken to intensive care following the accident in the Perm Territory. Sergei Vorozhein said, "Of these [11 victims], three - a man born in 1964, a boy born in 1994, and a girl born in 1996 - are in serious condition in intensive care."

The incident occurred at 14:30 local time (09:30 GMT) at the "Delfin" (dolphin) swimming pool, owned by a Chusovoi metals plant. The roof collapsed over an area of about 100 square meters.

The city administration has set up a commission to organize aid to the families of the victims and a bank account for donations. Compensation will be provided to the families by the Perm Territory and the Chusovoi administration, but the amount has not yet been determined.

The Defense Ministry's press service said Monday that it had sent military doctors and troops from the Volga-Urals Military District to provide first aid and assistance in clearing the rubble.

The ministry has sent a total of 165 personnel and 18 pieces of army equipment, including nine medical vehicles and two cranes.

Perm Territory Governor Oleg Chirkunov announced that December 6 would be a day of mourning in the region.

Chirkunov said recovery work had ended Monday, and the 14 bodies that had been identified would soon be returned to their families.
